A note from Ruth: I got involved in a program called "Remember Niger" when Kara VanderKamp came to speak at North Presbyterian Church in April 2008. Kara was a missionary for the Presbyterian Church USA for two years and worked with the education department of the Evangelical Church of the Republic of Niger. After her two years, she realized a lot more needed to be done to help Niger. So, she founded the project which partners with the Protestant church which mobilizes resources to expand quality educational opportunities in Niger. This is a particularly opportune time to work in Niger. It's a fairly stable democracy, the government encourages outside help in building and maintaining schools and training people to be teachers, the needs are great and people are open and appreciative of assistance. I'll talk about the country in general and the "Remember Niger" project in particular. Ruth
